She'd sent a large group of warriors to guard Xeras' mother, but the smoke that drifted down the hall from the ritual chamber, which was situated a story up from the prison cells, made Carolina suspect that their attackers didn't know they had a captive. The wizard silently hoped it would remain so and ordered another group of warriors to guard her chambers. She turned around and managed to take two steps before a second explosion sounded, this time from her room. Panicking, she rushed back and was assaulted by smoke that she cleared with a wind tunnel spell she'd designed only a few days ago. Next she beheld the blonde witch from before as she jumped through a hole in the wall, her legs up and sticking out in front of her and her fingertips touching the tips of her boots. To say Xeras was worried would be an understatement. This stranger had helped them, true, but the sight of so much magic used in one day unnerved her. That Gaulingeir tried to reassure her that he was keeping it to a minimum didn't help, either – more than one spell was a maximum for any Reghed barbarian. She voiced this very concern to him.
"I wish you good luck if you plan on sticking around Runna's group, then," he said with a shrug, "with both a druid and a sorceress as members. Iriaga is only at the beginning of her magical journey, and Loranys' peculiar heritage alone is bound to bring about some interesting scenarios." He paused

A hushed female voice echoed in the big hall of the temple carved into the base of a mountain, illuminated by the light coming from the huge stained glasses that took a mystic blue hue as it passed through the glass.
Outside, an army, sent from the King, waited in crushing agony, with the need to just run to a safer place or break into the temple to get this over with. But all they could do was stand there and wait.
The massive silver doors in front of the crowd were shut closed, preventing anyone from entering. It wasn’t the doors that were stopping them, but instead, a powerful barrier spell. Even the few in the army who were experienced with magic were too powerless against this witchcraft. Their attempts to break the barrier were dismissed effortlessly. Everyone was exhausted and terrified.
